Bone & Joint Center Overview
About the Center

Our Bone & Joint Center

Bone and joint problems rarely announce themselves politely: a knee gives out on the stairs, a shoulder aches through the night, a wrist stops doing its job. The Bone & Joint Center starts the way every center here starts, with careful diagnosis and straight answers before anyone talks about treatment.

Orthopedic surgeons lead the center, with sports medicine on the same team, so an injury can be rehabilitated, restored or repaired without being referred around. Its eight subspecialties run from hip and knee through shoulder, elbow, hand, wrist, foot and ankle to orthopedic trauma and orthopedic oncology. The Bone & Joint Center is one of four specialty centers at NeuroOrthoNYC, alongside Brain, Spine and Peripheral Nerve.

FAQs About the Bone & Joint Center

Straight answers to what patients ask us most, before the first visit.

Do I need surgery if I come to the Bone & Joint Center?
Not always, and most bone and joint problems improve without an operation. Physical therapy, activity changes and image-guided injections come first wherever they can do the job. Our surgeons recommend surgery only when it is the right answer for you, and then favor the least invasive option that will work.
Should I see a surgeon or a sports medicine specialist?
You do not have to choose. Both work in the Bone & Joint Center and injuries are reviewed as one team, so rehabilitation, restoration and surgery are weighed together rather than tried in sequence. You start wherever your problem starts.
Can the center help with an old injury that never healed right?
Yes. Joint restoration is one of the center’s subspecialties, and injuries that were rested, braced or operated on years ago and still complain are a common reason people walk in. Bring whatever records you have; imaging from the original injury helps even when it is old.
How much does a bone and joint consultation cost in New York?
It depends on your insurance plan. We work with many major insurance plans and can help you verify your coverage before your visit. Call 914-303-6548 and our team will walk you through it, and bring your insurance card to your first visit so the details can be confirmed on the spot.
Do I need a referral to see an orthopedic specialist?
In most cases, no. You can book directly with our team by calling 914-303-6548 or by requesting an appointment online. If another physician referred you, bring their notes and any imaging they ordered.
How quickly can I be seen after an injury?
We make room for acute injuries and post-surgical cases quickly. Call 914-303-6548 to find the earliest appointment at the office nearest you.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring a photo ID and insurance card, any X-rays or MRI imaging with the written reports, a list of current medications, and notes from any prior treatment of the same joint. If you use a brace, splint or orthotic, wear it or bring it; how it fits tells the team something too.
