Specialty Center

Brain Center

Our New York brain center treats tumors, stroke, seizures and the conditions behind headaches and memory changes, with surgery only when it is the right answer.

Brain Center Overview
About the Center

Our Brain Center

Few words land harder than a problem with the brain, and the wait for answers can be the worst part of it. Our Brain Center exists to shorten that wait: careful diagnosis first, explained without jargon, before any decision about treatment.

Neurosurgeons work alongside neurologists here, so conditions that need an operation and conditions that never will are cared for by the same team. Seven subspecialties run from skull base tumors, stroke and vascular conditions through epilepsy, movement disorders and hydrocephalus to the everyday neurology of headaches, dizziness and memory. The Brain Center is one of four specialty centers at NeuroOrthoNYC, alongside Spine, Bone & Joint and Peripheral Nerve.

FAQs About the Brain Center

Straight answers to what patients ask us most, before the first visit.

Do I need surgery if I come to the Brain Center?
Not always, and for many brain conditions the answer is no. Migraine, memory concerns, dizziness and most seizure care are managed medically by our neurologists, and some tumors are watched carefully rather than operated on. When surgery is the right answer for you, we favor the least invasive approach that will work, and we will tell you either way.
Should I see a neurologist or a neurosurgeon first?
You do not have to choose. Both work in the Brain Center and complex cases are reviewed together, so you start with the specialist your symptoms call for and are handed across only when it helps. Call 914-303-6548 and our team will point you to the right first visit.
Can I get a second opinion on a brain tumor diagnosis?
Yes. Second opinions are welcome at every center, and a tumor diagnosis is exactly when one earns its keep. Bring your imaging and written reports; the team reviews what was found, answers your questions in plain language, and tells you honestly whether we would recommend the same plan.
How much does a Brain Center consultation cost in New York?
It depends on your insurance plan. We work with many major insurance plans and can help you verify your coverage before your visit. Call 914-303-6548 and our team will walk you through it, and bring your insurance card to your first visit so the details can be confirmed on the spot.
Do I need a referral to see a brain specialist?
In most cases, no. You can book directly with our team by calling 914-303-6548 or by requesting an appointment online. If another physician referred you, bring their notes and any imaging they ordered.
How quickly can I be seen for new or worsening symptoms?
We make room for urgent and post-surgical cases quickly. Call 914-303-6548 to find the earliest appointment at the office nearest you.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring a photo ID and insurance card, any brain imaging (MRI or CT) with the written reports, a list of current medications, and notes from any prior neurological care. If someone close to you has noticed the symptoms, their account helps too: memory and seizure histories are often clearer from two tellings.
