Spine Center

Our New York spine center brings neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons into one team, from conservative care for neck and back pain to complex reconstruction.

Spine Center Overview
About the Center

Our Spine Center

Spine problems can disrupt every part of your life: work, sleep, and daily function. Choosing the right center to address them matters deeply. Our Spine Center begins with careful diagnosis and straightforward answers before discussing any treatment.

We bring neurosurgeons and orthopedic spine surgeons together on a single team that reviews each case collaboratively. Your care plan reflects the depth of both specialties rather than leaning on one surgical viewpoint. Our eight subspecialties cover everyday neck and back pain, scoliosis, spinal tumors, and revision surgery. We are one of four specialty centers at NeuroOrthoNYC, alongside Brain, Bone & Joint and Peripheral Nerve.

FAQs About the Spine Center

Straight answers to what patients ask us most, before the first visit.

Do I need surgery if I come to the Spine Center?
Not always, and we will tell you either way. Many neck and back problems improve with conservative care such as physical therapy, medication and image-guided injections. Our surgeons recommend surgery only when it is the right answer for you, and then favor the least invasive option that will work. You will leave understanding every option, surgical and non-surgical, in plain language.
Should I see a neurosurgeon or an orthopedic spine surgeon?
You do not have to choose. At our New York spine center, both specialties review every case together, so your diagnosis and your plan reflect the full picture. We then match you with the right specialist for your problem, or the right combination of specialists, so the answer depends on your case rather than on which door you knocked on first.
Can the Spine Center help after a previous spine surgery?
Yes. Revision surgery is one of the center’s subspecialties, and ongoing or returning pain after spine surgery, sometimes called failed back surgery syndrome, is one of its areas of focus. Many of these cases come to us on referral from other surgeons. Bring your imaging and any operative reports to your first visit, so the team can see what was done and what is driving your symptoms now.
How much does a spine center consultation cost in New York?
It depends on your insurance plan. We work with many major insurance plans and can help you verify your coverage before your visit. Call 914-303-6548 and our team will walk you through it, and bring your insurance card to your first visit so the details can be confirmed on the spot.
Do I need a referral to see a spine specialist?
In most cases, no. You can book directly with our team by calling 914-303-6548 or by requesting an appointment online. If another physician referred you, bring their notes and any imaging they ordered.
How quickly can I be seen for back or neck pain?
We make room for urgent and post-surgical cases quickly. Call 914-303-6548 to find the earliest appointment at the office nearest you.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring a photo ID and insurance card, any recent imaging (MRI, CT, or X-ray) with the written reports, a list of current medications, and notes from any prior spine or brain treatment. If you have seen another specialist about the same problem, bring their notes too, even if you disagree with the plan. The more history you bring, the more precise your diagnosis and plan can be on day one.
